Kalama Race

We welcome all small boat paddlers to the third Winter Series Race 2023!

Date: Saturday, Feb. 11 

Where: Kalama Washington

Who: Categories include OC-1, OC-2 (paddlers from the same household), SUP, kayak, V1, and surfski.

Race Description: This 6.2 mile race starts at Rasmussen Park and continues in a loop around Sandy Island with a turn around  Deer Island beach and finishes eastbound of the park.

Host Club: Mountain Home Canoe Club

Registration fee: $30 per paddler (includes one lunch ticket, insurance coverage, Paddleguru registration fee).  Credit card fees extra when paying on Paddleguru.

Location: Louis Rasmussen Park, Port of Kalama, Kalama, WA, 98625

Take exit 27 on Interstate 5 in Washington, follow directions to park. Parking spots and beach parking available.

Race Day:

8:30-10:00am - Onsite registration

10:30am - Safety meeting for all paddlers

11:00am - Race start

1:15pm - Lunch and awards ceremony;  Pizza with ticket. Beverage available for purchase.

Insurance and Rules: Insurance is provided by PaddleSports Risk Management, L.L.C. Individuals must complete the Event Waiver (https://form.jotform.com/Prmwaivers/kalama-winter-series-waiver) to enter the race. Click on the link event waiver link prior to registering for the race on Paddleguru. The race will follow PNWORCA race rules, regulations, and safety procedures (https://pnworca.org/race-rules/). 

Safety Guidelines: All small boat paddlers must wear a Coast Guard approved PFD, carry a whistle,m and have a leash. High-visible clothing is a bright idea! Safety boats will be on the course to assist but are not responsible for paddlers, boats, and/or equipment.
